Does Poland have Volcanoes/Volcanic activity???
In this Polish country there are many inactive volcanoes in Lower Silesia that used to be incredibly active and very destructive.
What is Volcanic activity is occurring in Lower Silesia, SW Poland, recently?
As of 2021 there as been an eruptive + magma feeding system evolution of Sośnica Hill, in southern Poland. Meaning, that there have been lava flows and 'pyroclastic deposits' that aid in the formation of the scoria cone. The deposits are due to an accumulation of ash particles caused from the magma that is pushed to the surface through the volcanic conduit (see image above). There have been studies of volcanological, geophysical, and rock magnetic data to provide information on this volcanic activity in Poland. According to ScienceDirect, (the main source of this weeks blog post) linear anomalies have been recorded and reflect that the appropriate levels of created faults caused by volcanoes have occurred. Electric Resistivity Tomography (ERT) not only explains those linear anomalies but is able to map resistivity bodies such as 'argilized volcaniclastic deposits'. This concept is essentially when rock minerals transform into clay when the rock makes contact with a water source or hot underground water. Several sites have undergone extensive data research...11 sites provided results of subvolcanic deformation that can be associated with the growth of the volcanic magma pulses. More studies occurred identifying different aspects of this volcanoes activity. These studies remain important as they can identify flow pattern, curation of volcanic mapping, and the results develop an understanding of the complex development of the volcanic systems and eruptive activity themselves.
